Women of today, have to be thin, really thin. If not, then we label them as ‘overweight’, ‘obese’, ‘rotund’, etc. Because they “are lazy”, “suffer from disease”, “have come from bad gene pools”, etc. Justifiable, or unfounded assumptions?

Today, questions are somewhat of a rare commodity. And because of the media’s strong penetration in modern-day life, many people have accepted its view of ‘beauty’, without asking why thin is beautiful. Repeat a message long enough and the people will accept it.

Especially with the younger generations, the media has been able to convince them of their message. This generation has not forgotten how beauty was defined in the past, they have simply not known it any other way.

I think, if we really want to answer the question of what beauty is, that we have to answer a few other questions first. Or rather, start asking the questions.

Welcome to BBW Shrine, where necessary questions about the present-day beauty paradigm will be asked. Where you give the answers, not based on the media, nor on my opinion, but on readily available information that is factual, unbiased, and unprejudiced.

BBW Shrine is a website supporting the Fat Acceptance community. There will be many articles with tips and useful information for people new to or already involved in the BBW community, which are explained in detail on the Preface page.
